The conflation of sex work and sex trafficking is more than the bane of sworkers existence, it actively prevents earning money. Efforts to eradicate sex work are exercises in futility. Arguments against sex work are moralistic. Some people believe no one would ever be into sex work if there is a viable alternative. Maybe that is true! But that doesn't mean that these viable alternatives exist. It also can be a choice. It can feel empowering. No one wants anyone in the world to be trafficked/forced into sex work. Laws like FOSTA/SESTA and rules against earning money from sex work don't prevent sex work. It makes it more dangerous. @amalefeminist You don't have to like sex work. You don't have to want to be a sex worker. You can support the people who choose to do it. As far as I'm concerned the moment you start telling a person what they can or can't do with their body, you are the problem. Body autonomy extends beyond abortion. If people wish to use their body to make money, good for them. If people wish to weaponise their sexuality and profit off other people's desire, good for them. I certainly wish I could! Sex work needs to be decriminalised. Sex workers need to be seen. Sex workers need to be heard. Sex workers need to be protected. Sex workers need to know that the police will listen to them. Sex workers need to not be demonised and painted as a collection of broken individuals forced into this life against their will. You might not choose it but sure as shit don't get to tell others how to live. We don't support human trafficking, sex trafficking or enslavery. We do support sex work and sex workers.
